In MSIE8 and below, yii.gridView file is not loaded and GridView widget is not working (throws Identifier expected error). The reason is that the variable name 'class' is a reserved word. To correct this, the variable name should be changed into an array key, which eliminates the error. Installation
The preferred way to install the Yii framework is through composer.
Either run
composer global require "fxp/composer-asset-plugin:^1.2.0"
composer require yiisoft/yii2
or add
"yiisoft/yii2": "~2.0.0",
to the require section of your composer.json.
